Dyson is an excellent choice when it comes to cordless vacuums. These appliances allow for easy, quick cleaning of the house without being tied to the power outlet or changing the position all the time.

There are numerous Dyson models available, but the most notable ones are Dyson V8 and Dyson Animal. Read on to find out which one is best for your cleaning needs!

About the Brand

Dyson

Dyson is a British company that manufactures home appliances, such as vacuum cleaners, hand dryers, air purifiers, heaters, hairdryers, and many more. Their vacuum cleaner line is excellent, offering versatility and numerous options for all needs and preferences. The price range also differs, meeting numerous budget points.

Dyson products are designed with only one purpose in mind: efficiency. They make use of multiple technologies to deliver the most powerful, convenient products for home use and maintenance.

They include high-end technology to develop corded and cordless vacuum cleaners, ideal for hard floors, carpets, pet owners, and more. Their V8 range is unmatched when it comes to the price/quality ratio and offers highly competitive features.

Similarities Between Dyson V8 Absolute vs Animal

There are numerous similarities between V8 Absolute and V8 Animal. They use the same technologies and have easily comparable performances.

The entire V8 series sports whole machine filtration technology. In other words, the cleaners work by spinning the airflow within two tiers of cyclones. By doing so, they clean the dust and other debris. Furthermore, they feature a post-motor filter which aims to catch particles of a minimum of 0.3 microns.

Another similarity between the two models is the direct-drive cleaner head. This is also one of the best features of the entire V8 series. The standard V6 Animal had a floorhead, while both V8 Absolute and Animal have a head, which is 150% more powerful. As a result, they can go deeper into carpets, and they also have carbon fiber filaments that help them better clean hard floors.

All V8 vacuum cleaners, thus implicitly both Absolute and Animal, have a digital V8 motor. It was known to be the most powerful motor in Dyson cleaners before the V10 appeared.

Both Absolute and Animal have 40-minute run time. The battery technology can achieve this performance only when any non-motorized tool is used. In case the user implements the motorized floor read, the run time drops down to only 25 minutes.

If you are looking for maximum suction, both models feature a max power mode. While this reduces the battery life, it helps the user remove any stubborn debris or dirt.

Many Dyson cordless vacuums, including Absolute and Animal, have a useful handheld mode. This makes them ideal for cleaning tricky areas, such as stairs, or even inside the car.

The dirt emptying system is new and efficient, pushing out the debris without having the user manually taking it out. The dust capacity is average for a cordless vacuum cleaner, reaching up to 0.54 liters.

Lastly, both Dyson V8 Absolute and Dyson V8 Animal are shipped with a docking station. It can be used to store the devices and tools, and it is also used as a charging station. Both models have exactly the same accessories, which include the station, rigid crevice tool, combination tool, and a miniature motorized tool.

Differences Between Dyson V8 Absolute and Animal

As one might expect since both models are part of the V8 series, Absolute and Animal are quite similar. The only difference is that the second one does not have a soft roller cleaner head.

As a result, Absolute might be more useful in cleaning hard floors due to the soft head. It is designed from a crafty combination of stiffer carbon fiber and soft nylon. This allows it to pick both fine dust particles and larger debris. The soft-touch prevents it from scratching delicate flooring. As a result, Absolute might be more recommendable if you have hard floors.

However, this does not make Animal unsuitable for hardwood or vinyl flooring. Both models have a direct-drive cleaner head, which is ideal for hard floors and excellent performance. However, the soft roller might come with the peak performance in this category, but it can also be purchased separately if required.

The last difference between the two models is that V8 Animal is slightly cheaper than the V8 Absolute. This might be a crucial aspect since the two models are almost identical in terms of other specifications.

Customer Reviews

Here are what customers who bought these units have reported about these vacuums.

Dyson V8 Absolute

Good Points

The V8 Absolute takes a lot of praise for the convenience of its design. It is lightweight and it can be emptied easily. Furthermore, it picks up both small and large dirt particles from the floor when using the recommended attachment. The cordless feature makes it one of the most comfortable vacuum cleaners to date.

While some might complain about the battery life, it’s noteworthy to mention that it is more than enough for a small to large house. It is durable, so the vacuum cleaner is undoubtedly worth the investment.

All attachments can be easily attached and detached, while the convenient trigger button placed on the handle instead of a standard on/off switch is a great, fun addition. It is both portable and relatively quiet compared to many other models.

Bad Points

One of the main bad points is that the pistol grip is not very comfortable. It performs minor rubbing and is made out of hard plastic, which is uncomfortable, especially for people with large hands.

Another drawback is that some pet hairs might still get stuck inside the dust bin, despite its hygienic emptying system. This means that you might have to reach in and clean it thoroughly.

The dock does not have enough space to hold all the tools and attachments, so some need to be stored in another place. If you need to use the power cleaning mode, 25 minutes of run time might not be enough to clean the entire house.

Dyson Animal

Good Points

You are immediately impressed with the Dyson V8 Animal – its performance is high, and the design is comfortable, well-balanced, and very easy to use. Its lightweight construction recommends it for anyone who wants a portable unit without spending time to plug and unplug it all the time.

The charging station is well designed and is intuitive to use. The cordless feature is great for a full cleaning session or a quick touch up and is ideal for people with pets or small children.

Another exceptional selling point is that it can be used to clean stairs and other small places. More specifically, stairs covered with carpets can be extremely difficult to maintain, but the Dyson V8 Animal manages to clean everything quickly and conveniently, especially when using the dedicated attachment. It also has a handheld feature that is easy to use to pick up pet hairs or clean inside the car.

Buyers also enjoyed how easy it is to empty the vacuum cleaner without having to scoop it out. Mobility scores high, and suction power is more than enough to deliver excellent performance. The design is not bulky, so it can be easily used to clean under the furniture.

Bad Points

The battery life remains the main shortage of this model. With 40 minutes on regular mode and 25 minutes on power mode, this vacuum cleaner might not be a suitable choice for medium to large houses. The charging time closes in to almost 5 hours, so it’s definitely not convenient to have it run out of power during cleaning.

Which One Is The Best – Dyson V8 Absolute or Animal?

As you might have noticed, there are not too many differences between Dyson V8 Absolute and Dyson V8 Animal. The most important one might be that the Animal does not have the soft roller floor head, which is ideal for hard floors. This reduces the price difference down to this one accessory, so it is recommended to decide whether you really need this add-on or not.

V8 Animal works flawlessly on any type of surface due to its versatile direct-drive, which cleans both hardwood and carpets. If your home has predominantly hard floors, it might be worth paying a little extra and getting the V8 Absolute, which comes with the soft roller too.
